Funding for Study Support (out of school hours learning) Activities

All government funding for study support (out of school hours learning) activity is paid direct to schools and Local Authorities. Schools are expected to use their delegated budgets, including the School Development Grant and School Standards Grant, to help meet the costs of providing study support activities. Decisions on how to apportion funding are made locally; this allows schools and LAs greater flexibility in determining how funds can best be deployed to meet their specific needs.

For further details, see the latest Standards Fund Circular

Alternative Funding Sources

Possible alternative sources of funding which may be available to support out of hours activities include the Single Regeneration Fund, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, and the European Social Fund. Some schools have formed partnerships with local businesses that can provide financial assistance, while many charities and charitable trusts have funds available for local groups.  Your local Council for Voluntary Service, Local Authority, or library may have the software programme that offers an easy way to search for the appropriate charity.
